PM set to Lay Foundation Stone of Jewar Airport
With the presentation of UP’s budget for 2019-2020, there is a lot to be excited for. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government has decided to allot a massive amount of INR 800 crores for a new project, the Jewar Airport.
The airport, even before the construction has commenced, has become the talk of the town since it is going to be the second airport in Delhi-NCR and is expected to change the landscape of Noida’s real estate.
Jewar is located in Greater Noida’s Gautam Buddh Nagar which has witnessed the emergence of many high-flying real estate projects on Noida Expressway in the last decade and an airport will only heighten investments in the area.
According to sources, the construction work will start soon after the earmarked amount will reach the account of the concerned administration. As per Union Minister, Mahesh Sharma, the ceremony to inaugurate the work is scheduled for the end of February and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Jewar Airport.
It was 16 years ago when the government saw a dream to come up with the second airport in the region, and we can finally see the Yogi-led Government inching closer to their dream. Things took a good pace after the Union Civil Aviation Ministry gave approval to the proposal of Jewar Airport in April last year.
According to our sources, there are other infrastructural developments in the cards for Noida such as direct Metrolink. The plan is to connect the Jewar Airport and Indira Gandhi International Airport directly via the Metro, which will have further connectivity when the Greater Noida Line will be launched this year.
Another thing in focus is the Rapid Rail link, such that the Jewar Airport will be directly linked to one of the most popular bus stations in the city, Sarai Kale Khan via a Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS).
These plans are still in talks and will be discussed, and approved in the next meeting scheduled for 7th May according to a statement by Yeida chief Prabhat Kumar.
